LexOP: A lexical database with Orthography-Phonology statistics for French monosyllabic words

 

This directory includes LEXOP (Peereman & Content, 1999), a computerized lexical database which provides quantitative descriptors of the relation between orthography and phonology for French monosyllabic words. Three main classes of variables are considered: consistency of print-to-sound and sound-to-print associations, frequency of orthography-phonology correspondences, and word neighborhood characteristics. The LEXOP database as well as frequency and consistency tables for the different units of analysis are provided in the same package.

LexOP.2 fixes a number of different problems which were noted on the initial version of the database. The main changes concern computation of phonological neighbourhood, and print-to-sound consistency on coda (C2) units. Note that by-token values of the phonological neighbourhood are now based on the cumulative frequencies of heterographic homophones. Several phonological transcriptions and segmentations have also been corrected. This led to recompute both consistency and neighbourhood values. September 1999
